10/29/18: The Jersey City Medical Center Orthopaedics team welcomes international rotating professor Dr. Pierre Ogedad, Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at Hôpital Sacré Coeur in Milot, Haiti. Dr. Ogedad is the first of many visiting international professors that we will be hosting this year at JCMC. Welcome Dr. Ogedad!

AOBOS Part 1 Board Exam

Congratulations to our graduating residents for passing part 1 of the AOBOS  board certification exam! Both of our graduating residents scored in the top 10 of all DO residents nationally. Our program is proud to say that we have had residents place within the top 10 scorers every year. Congratulations Dr. Klein and Dr. Patel!

New Jersey Orthopaedic Society 43rd Annual Symposium

04/13/18: The New Jersey Orthopaedic Society's 43rd Annual Symposium was held on April 13th and 14th at the Heldrich Hotel in New Brunswick, NJ. Three of our residents were selected to present original research and case presentations. Congratulations Drs. Klein, Miller, and Yingling!

Research Updates

06/18/17: Systematic review examining the evidence behind the use of concentrated bone marrow aspirate (cBMA) in cartilage, bone, and tendon repair; establish proof of concept for the use of cBMA in these biologic environments; and provide the level and quality of evidence substantiating the use of cBMA in the clinical setting.

06/02/17: Congratulations to Dr. Arianna Gianakos for being invited to speak and present her research at the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopedics and Traumatology 2017 in Vienna, Austria. Her presented research included:

i. The Use of Tranexamic Acid in Total Knee and Hip Arthroplasty: A Meta-analysis (poster)

ii. The Clinical Evidence for Adipose-Derived Stem Cells Therapy on the Treatment of Osteoarthritis: A Systematic Review (poster)

iii. Differentiating Subchondral Insufficiency Fracture From Osteonecrosis May Help Delay Or Avoid Total Hip Arthroplasty (podium)

iv. Microfracture May Reduce Radiologic And Clinical Outcomes Of Ankle Distraction Arthroplasty At Medium Term Follow-Up (podium)

06/30/16: The RWJBarnabas Health - Jersey City Medical Center Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program has achieved ACGME pre-accreditation status.

JCMC Orthopaedic Surgery Newsletter

11/20/15:  In preparation for the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency program interviews, our first annual newsletter was created to provide more information regarding the newest information pertaining to our program.

ACGME Accreditation Status

11/05/15: The Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program at Jersey City Medical Center Barnabas Health is an Osteopathic Residency Program and a member of the American Osteopathic Association.  We have formed our Orthopaedic Surgery ACGME Accreditation Committee, which is currently in the process of preparing our ACGME accreditation application with an anticipated submission for pre-accreditation this coming Spring of 2016.  Pre-accreditation status allows our graduates to participate in ACGME accredited fellowship programs as well as participate in the Certificate of Additional Qualification (CAQ) in certain Orthopaedic sub-specialties.

The Orthopedic Institute at Jersey City Medical Center

07/1/15:  Jersey City Medical Center Barnabas Health is proud to announce the opening of The Orthopaedic Institute.  This endeavor includes a dedicated Orthopaedic wing with specialized nurses certified in Orthopaedic nursing, as well as numerous private rooms for our patients to recover from their surgery.
